Chapter 4: Daily Hot Topics

It was only when Nanyue was about to step onto and off the stage that he heard thunderous applause coming from behind him.

She paused briefly, then turned elegantly while lifting the hem of her dress. Unaware that it was already pitch dark and invisible to the audience, she bowed in gratitude.

Only then did he leave the stage with a smile.

“Congratulations, host—the task should be complete.” Nan Yue responded with a faint hum, showing neither surprise nor delight.

Is this how all your systems operate? The pleasant aspect is their liveliness, while the unpleasant one is their excessive chatter.

005 felt a bit frustrated. Just before stepping onto the stage, he was still skeptical; now it was completely confirmed—the host wasn’t that easy to fool after all.

However, she has the necessary abilities to fulfill her original wish.

After passing through the corridor and returning to the backstage area, Nan Yue saw another girl waiting there.

The other person’s expression was already uneasy; upon seeing her, their face changed even more dramatically, filled with both fear and disgust, and they quickly turned away to avoid looking at her.

Otherwise, I really don’t know what kind of things I might do or say—maybe even something unpleasant.

Nan Yue took a close look at the girl, curved her lips slightly, thanked the staff member standing nearby for their praise, and then returned to the backstage area.

The backstage area consists of a large dressing room and a lounge, where a large television screen on the wall broadcasts live footage from the stage.

Nan Yue glanced around casually and happened to notice the camera sweeping past the judging panel. When she saw one of the men, her gaze froze.

But soon, as the camera moved away, she too shifted her gaze and sat down on a separate sofa chair.

The other people in the lounge kept staring at her; seeing that she showed no intention of looking away, they exchanged glances and continued watching the TV screen, waiting for the next performance.

It’s fair to say that the performance by Nan Yue left numerous audience members, judges, and even fellow contestants in awe.

Well, the performance that’s taking place right now has left everyone utterly stunned.

Nan Yue remained seated, watching the performance riddled with flaws and nearly interrupted outright. Once again, she sighed deeply—humans are truly fragile.

When I heard this exclamation, I simply couldn’t help but speak up.

“Host, did you do this?” The woman on stage is Luo Wenshan—one of those who just pushed Nan Yue in the restroom.

There’s also Qi Xi, the person encountered earlier during the Southern Yue period; however, he doesn’t seem to be in the rest area at this moment.

005: For some reason, I suddenly remembered the phrase “the disaster of bloodshed” mentioned by Nan Yue.

Seeing the girl on stage—her face nearly teary-eyed, with tears glistening in her eyes—and realizing how utterly innocent she looked, Nanyue felt a deep sense of compassion.

“Of course not—how could you possibly stand up for her?”  “I just feel that the host doesn’t really need me.” Hearing this slightly feel wronged child’s voice, Nan Yue felt inexplicably that she wasn’t only burdened by an extra body, but also by the presence of a son.

Don’t act coquettish—I’m still waiting for you to set up the online store for me. Living in the city, I already lack places with sufficient spiritual energy for cultivation, let alone any access to rare medicinal herbs or plants.

The only way is to rely on this small system’s marketplace to obtain more pills and thereby enhance one’s cultivation level.

Upon hearing these words, 005 immediately came back to life again.

“Reliable host: Once you complete the mission and advance, you’ll receive a Spirit Stone!”   “Hey… Ding! Side quest triggered – Daily Hot Search (0/1)!”   “Ding! Congratulations, host, on completing the side quest – Daily Hot Search (1/1)!”   “Congratulations, host! The in-game store will open officially in five minutes!”   A hot search? Nan Yue glanced around and indeed saw many people staring at their phones with varied expressions.

This show seems completely casual – no one even cares when contestants are using their phones.

Nan Yue recalled where her phone had been stored, went to a large storage cabinet, and retrieved it.

Even before she traveled to the world of cultivation, she was already using a touchscreen smartphone.

But with the industry evolving rapidly and new smartphones constantly emerging, Nan Yue struggled to navigate the interface before finally locating the Weibo app and opening it.
