Chapter12

He muttered to himself, “What’s going on? Why isn’t the boss answering the phone?”  “Could something have happened?”  “Why don’t we send someone over to check? The boss worked until two o’clock the night before last, and he didn’t even eat the boxed meal Xiao Shui brought him yesterday…”  “The boss has a stomach problem.”  “That’s right—he’s been hungry all day; he must’ve fainted somewhere!” Just then, Xie Minglong, who had been responsible for calling the boss, suddenly stood up excitedly: “Answer it! Answer it!”  “Hey, are you okay, boss?” Mo Senlin moved his phone away briefly before placing it back near his ear after a few seconds.

“Is there something?”  “Oh, yes.” Xie Minglong instinctively glanced at Li Jing across the table and realized, “Siyan mentioned there’s a minor bug in the program; he can’t figure out what’s causing it and wants you to come take a look.” Mo Senlin replied, “I’ll go this afternoon.” After hanging up, he turned back but didn’t see Lu Qin. Frowning, he picked up his phone and headed to another shelf.

“Ah! It hurts so much!” Mo Senlin recognized that it was Lu Qin’s voice.

He quickened his pace.

Walk towards the source of the sound.

Lu Qin clutched her legs, tears welling up in her eyes from the pain; a five-or six-year-old boy stood timidly before her.

The little boy is holding a model airplane in his hand.

Before long, someone—either the boy’s grandmother or his maternal grandmother—arrived. She embraced him and began touching him all over in an exaggerated manner.

“Hey! My dear grandson, did anything hurt from the collision? Does it hurt?” The little boy pouted.

The next moment, she burst into tears like a thunderstorm.

Lu Qin stood there, utterly stunned.

“Don’t cry, don’t cry,” the little boy’s grandmother said, holding her grandson in her arms with deep concern. Suddenly turning around, she shoved Lu Qin forcefully: “How do you even walk like that! Don’t you have eyes? You’ve damaged my grandson—you wouldn’t be able to compensate for it no matter how hard you try!” Lu Qin stumbled as a result of the push.

She was stunned: it had clearly been this little boy who suddenly rushed toward her with an airplane and collided with her—so why was the situation completely reversed now? Before she could even consider taking action, the boy’s grandmother immediately shifted the blame.

Not to know black from white 。

They insisted that she was the one who collided with the person.

“I didn’t hit him; he hit me,” Lu Qin said, ignoring the pain in her knees as she tried to explain what had just happened.

The old woman said sharply, “Young lady, you may eat whatever you want, but don’t speak recklessly—just look at how my grandson is crying from the pain!”  “Children cry over the slightest thing, old lady; you can’t blame me for hitting him just because he’s crying.”  “Let’s reason with each other, shall we?”  “These young people these days have increasingly poor manners—they’re worse than children; when they make mistakes, all they think about is finding excuses…” Lu Qin clenched her fists.

Everyone around was looking at the little girl beside the shelf with strange expressions, pointing at her and whispering among themselves.

Mo Senlin’s face was grim. He moved through the crowd and quickly approached Lu Qin, shielding her behind him as he stared coldly at the old woman.

The supermarket staff arrived promptly and were about to inquire about the situation.

The elderly woman, the complainant, began: “Miss, you’ve come at just the right time to settle this matter. This woman made my dear grandson cry, yet she refuses to admit it and insists it was my grandson who caused her distress. Listen carefully to what she says…”  “If my dear grandson were to meet a bad end, how could I face the ancestors of the He family? I’d have no face to meet them!”  “Madam, please calm down.” The staff member glanced at the handsome young man and beautiful woman across from them, then at the grumbling elderly woman, and had a clear understanding of the situation.
