In Love, Never Say Never(92)

Chapter 92

I glanced at the pile of documents on my desk and nodded. As I had previously asked Stacey to keep an eye on OrbitTech, I inquired, “Let me see the market report for HiTech. The feedback for our products seems pretty good. Have there been any updates regarding OrbitTech?”

Stacey responded, “Yes, OrbitTech and HiTech both released a product in the AI education sector at the same time. Their target audience is students, so their marketing efforts are focused on schools. The product is quite good, but the price and costs are high, so only a select few can afford it.”

I nodded thoughtfully. “Okay, keep monitoring them. If necessary, you can arrange a meeting with the president of OrbitTech for me.”

As OrbitTech focused heavily on research and development, their marketing and management strategies weren’t as strong. If Fuller Corporation could acquire a company like OrbitTech, it could be a breakthrough for our future developments in the tech sector.

Stacey nodded. “Understood. However, the manager of OrbitTech’s marketing department has been in close contact with a technology company in A City.”

“I see,” I mused. As a tech company, OrbitTech would likely be looking for investors to help expand their business. Not too concerned about it, I shifted the topic. “Are you dating anyone?”

She paused for a moment, then smiled shyly. “Yeah, we’re getting married soon.” She subconsciously touched the wedding ring on her finger as she spoke.

I raised an eyebrow, smiling. “Does he work in the same industry as us? Why don’t we all have a meal together?”

Looking like a woman happily in love, Stacey chuckled. “He’s been pretty busy lately, so we’ll have to wait until this busy period passes. But if you’re free, I’d love for you to preside over our wedding.”

“Already decided to get married?” I was surprised, considering I’d only noticed them dating for a month or two.

Blushing, she nodded. “We were classmates. We’ve known each other for years, but we only recently started dating. Our families have been pushing us, so we decided to get married.”

I laughed, not saying anything else. After Stacey placed the documents on my desk and left, I received a call from Jared.

I picked up immediately. “Hello, Dr. Crest!”

“Are you free, Scarlett?” His voice sounded as though he wanted to talk to me about something important.

I was momentarily taken aback but responded, “I’m meeting Macy tonight. What’s up?”

There was a brief pause before he spoke again, “It’s nothing. Ashton called me earlier to check up on your health.”

I instinctively frowned and replied, “I’m fine. There’s no need for him to worry.”

“Did you two get into a fight?” Jared asked, his tone probing.

“No!” I quickly reassured him. Our disagreements weren’t exactly arguments; it was just that we weren’t on the same wavelength.

After a slight pause, Jared continued, “That’s good to hear. By the way, there’s a box on my office desk with some supplement pills for you. You can pick it up whenever you’re free, and remember to take them regularly.”

“Alright. Thank you!” I said.

“You’re welcome.” After a brief chat, I hung up and glanced at the clock. The workday had ended, and I was supposed to meet Macy at the shopping mall, so I tidied my desk before heading to the parking lot.

After everything that happened recently, I rarely parked in the underground car park. Instead, I parked on the ground floor in the open parking area. The underground parking lot was often dim and felt shady. Though the open parking area exposed my car to the sun, I felt it was safer.

I got into the car and began reversing out of the parking space when I noticed something. A familiar figure caught my eye. A slightly chubby middle-aged man was sitting in a black Cayenne next to Joe’s red sports car. For some reason, his figure seemed familiar.

Although I hadn’t gotten a good look at my kidnapper’s face, I remembered his build clearly. I couldn’t help but stop my car and stare at the man in the Cayenne. But before I could get a better look, he quickly drove off.

I wasn’t sure if it was the same person. There were plenty of chubby middle-aged men around, and it was difficult to tell for sure.

After hesitating for a moment, I decided to proceed to the shopping mall to meet Macy. By the time I arrived, she had been waiting for me for a while. As soon as she saw me, she pouted and complained, “Scarlett, you’re half an hour late!”

I handed her a cup of milk tea as an apology. “I’m not late on purpose. There was a traffic jam. Here’s a cup of milk tea for you as a peace offering.”

She took the drink and, with a proud smile, said, “Since you’re so sincere, I’ll let you off the hook this time.”

The shopping mall in J City’s center was huge. Macy was obviously excited, likely because it had been a while since she had gone out. She’d even skipped breakfast so she could save room for the extravagant seafood buffet she planned to indulge in.

I chuckled, thinking back to our college days when we didn’t have much money. We would save for months just to splurge on a buffet together. Those were simpler, happier times. Life was carefree, and I didn’t have anyone to love or worry about.

After dinner, Macy dragged me into a baby shop. She eagerly picked out items for my baby, each one more adorable than the last.
